Jagr compares Patrice Bergeron to Ron Francis | 05/15/2013 6:21 PM
NewsJaromir Jagr compared Boston center Patrice Bergeron to his old Hall of Fame teammate Ron Francis.
Impact"I think Ronnie Francis was the same way," Jagr said of Bergeron. "He wasn't very flashy. He scored a lot of goals but not the highlights goals. And he did everything perfect, especially defensively. The GMs and the coaches, they know. And it doesn't mean the media doesn't talk about him much. People who are close to hockey and understand hockey, they know how special he is. So it's all right." That's high praise from a teammate after spending just two months together. Bergeron was announced as a finalist for the Selke Trophy on Wednesday and he won the award last year.

Bergeron caps Bruins' stunning Game 7 rally | 05/13/2013 10:20 PM

ImpactBergeron deflected a point shot in the final minute of regulation to force overtime and then banged home a rebound goal six minutes into the extra session. Bergeron's goals were the culmination of a stunning rally by Boston, which scored twice with an empty net in the final two minutes of the third period to force overtime. Bergeron had just one goal entering play Monday night and had come under fire as recently as the first period for a lack of offensive contribution.
Bruins need more out of Bergeron line | 05/11/2013 9:22 AM
NewsThe Bruins are going to need more offence out of Patrice Bergeron's line if they are going to do any damage in the playoffs let alone defeat the Maple Leafs in Round 1.
ImpactOf the 44 points the Bruins have registered in the post-season so far, the members of the Bergeron unit, which includes Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin, have contributed only three collectively. To contrast, the David Krejci line, featuring Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic has 22. Marchand certainly understands that the Krejci line can't carry the team on its own. "Everyone else needs to step up and start contributing," said Marchand. "We can't rely on them [the Krejci unit] every single game to get all of our goals. We got to dig down deep and have a much better game." Let's see if Bergeron and his linemates can get something going in Game 6 in Toronto Sunday.

Patrice Bergeron picks up an assist | 04/22/2013 9:03 AM
NewsPatrice Bergeron recorded an assist on Sunday.
CSN New England
ImpactIt was Bergeron's first point since he returned from a concussion. The fact that he's suffered four concussions over his career is obviously a big source of concern, but he didn't miss too much playing time this time around and he's getting plenty of work before the postseason. With that in mind, we think it'd be fair to draft him with confidence in the playoff pools.

No news on Bergeron's concussion status | 04/06/2013 8:53 AM
NewsBoston GM Peter Chiarelli had nothing new to say about Patrice Bergeron's condition.
ImpactAll we know at this point is that the talented Bruin forward sustained what the team is calling a moderate concussion in Tuesday's game against the Senators. ImpactBoston has the best percentage in the game, at 93.9 percent. We're trying to read what their play is, and I think we're doing a good job of that," said Patrice Bergeron. "We're finding the most dangerous guy and what they're trying to accomplish out there. It's about communicating and having some good sticks. It doesn't always have to be your body in front of the lane, but also your stick has to take the seam and all that. When you do that, I think it denies the chances for them."

Bruins may rely on Bergeron's line early | 01/10/2013 9:27 AM
NewsThe trio of Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand may get the lion share of the ice time for the Bruins in the early going.
ImpactThe team's other top-six line of Nathan Horton, Milan Lucic and David Krejci may be slightly more out of sync to start the year because of Horton's return from a concussion and Lucic's lack of game shape from not playing overseas. Bergeron and Seguin enjoyed strong showings with their teams in Switzerland during the lockout. "A week is not much time to get ready," said Bergeron of training camp. "At this level, guys are very good and very smart. But I think it helped us to have that many guys playing real games. It's not as physical, but you still get involved. It's different than practicing. I think it's a plus. But you still need to bring your A-game right away. I think the fact that we have all the guys coming back is going to help us, hopefully, with the chemistry."

Despite all that he wonders if he will be fully prepared for the start of the NHL's condensed season. "You never know until you play in your first game," Bergeron said of being in game shape. "But I played over there. The tempo of the game and the speed of the game is very fast. I was lucky enough to play in the Spengler Cup as well. The competition was very high. I feel good. I'm just looking forward to getting started."
