|Assets:||Skates well and has good lateral mobility. Is a good puck mover who can log a ton of ice time, if need be. Is at his best when he keeps his game simple. Owns good size at 6-2, 216 pounds.|
|Flaws:||Doesn't always use his big frame to lean on opponents, which gives forwards too much comfort in the attacking zone when he's on the ice. Also, he can make a few mistakes with the puck.|
|Career Potential:||Veteran, mobile defenseman, when healthy.|

Red Wings bring back Kyle Quincey for 2 years | 07/01/2014 7:32 PM
NewsThe Detroit Red Wings signed Kyle Quincey to a two-year, $8.5 million contract on July 1.
Bob McKenzie on Twitter
ImpactThat's about $1 million more than his previous two-year deal with the Red Wings. Quincey's offensive game seems like it's slipping a bit, but a decent depth option considering his solid PIM (88 PIM in 2013-14).
Quincey not likely to be back in Detroit | 06/01/2014 10:30 AM
NewsThere is a very good chance that Kyle Quincey has played his last game for the Red Wings.
Detroit Free Press
ImpactThe underrated defenseman is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and every indication is that he test the market. Given the offers rearguards have procurred in years' past, it is likely Quincey will find a better deal with another club. It is also unlikely the Red Wings will re-sign their other UFAs Todd Bertuzzi, Daniel Cleary, David Legwand, Mikael Samuelsson and Jonas Gustavsson. Daniel Alfredsson, the Wings' sixth UFA could return to Motown if he wishes to play another season.
Wings split Quincey and Smith | 12/29/2013 9:29 AM
NewsDetroit coach Mike Babcock switched up his top two defenseman pairings for Saturday's game against Florida.
ImpactHe split up the struggling pair of Kyle Quincey and Brendan Smith. Quincey played with Danny DeKeyser and registered an assist, while Smith skated alongside Niklas Kronwall and scored a goal. Quincey was minus 13 and Smith minus six going into Saturday's contest. For at least one game, the switch seems to have revitalized both Quincey and Smith. That said, we can't recommend either at this time.
Kyle Quincey ejected for hit on Ryan Getzlaf | 12/17/2013 8:56 PM
NewsDetroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey is at risk of a possible suspension after being ejected for a hit on Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf.
ImpactQuincey received a game misconduct and five-minute boarding major. He has one suspension (April 2012, one game) on his resume, so that works against his him. It helps that Getzlaf returned during Tuesday's contest, however.
Kyle Quincey scores rare goal for Wings | 12/13/2013 1:33 AM
NewsKyle Quincey registered his first goal of the season for Detroit in a 2-1 shootout loss to Tampa on Thursday.
ImpactThe defensive-minded Quincey doesn't score many goals so each one he counts is something of an event. Gustav Nyquist and Johan Franzen drew helpers on the tally.
St. James: Wings should deal Kyle Quincey | 12/05/2013 11:23 AM
NewsHelene St. James of the Detroit Free Press thinks it would be in Detroit's best interest to try to trade Kyle Quincey.
Detroit Free Press
ImpactHis departure would free up a spot for when Dan DeKeyser is able to return from LTIR and Quincey probably won't have a spot in the lineup when Detroit's defense corps is back to full health. He has three assists and a minus-9 rating in 29 games this season. Quincey can also become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Quincey (soreness) doesn't practice Wednesday | 11/20/2013 6:00 PM
NewsKyle Quincey missed Wednesday's practice due to "bumps and bruises."
ImpactQuincey is still expected to play Thursday, but we're going to err on the side of caution and list him as day-to-day. He has three assists and 14 penalty minutes in 22 games this season.
Wings won't change defense for Game 5 | 05/25/2013 3:12 PM
NewsKyle Quincey doesn't anticipate the Detroit Red Wings making significant defensive adjustments to counteract Chicago uniting Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Patrick Sharp on its top line.
Impact"If we do anything different, [Marian] Hossa and the other guys will just burn us," Quincey said. "It's status quo for us. Obviously, they're all great players and we have to respect them and keep their time and space to a minimum." The Blackhawks have scored just two goals in their last three games, so they're hoping that stacking their first line will spark their offense. Chicago's a very deep team though, so as Quincey noted, Detroit can't focus its attention extensively on one line.
Kyle Quincey a healthy scratch Sunday | 04/15/2013 9:07 AM
NewsKyle Quincey was a healthy scratch Sunday.
ImpactHe was replaced by Brendan Smith in the lineup. "I don't have much to say on it," Quincey said. "Three guys are waiting and all ready to play and they're all good defensemen, so it's the nature of the beast." He has not had any fantasy value this season.

Kyle Quincey might play on Thursday | 04/02/2013 10:26 AM
NewsKyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) thinks he might be able to play on Thursday.
ImpactThat being said, it sounds like the Red Wings might not use Quincey on Thursday even if he declares himself ready to return. "It'll be a battle because DeKeyser thinks he's playing Thursday, too," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said, referring to Dan DeKeyser, who will try to make the jump straight from the NCAA to the NHL after signing with the Red Wings.
Kyle Quincey is able to resume working out | 03/29/2013 12:17 PM
NewsKyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) can resume working out.
Detroit Free Press
ImpactQuincey might start skating next week and return within two weeks, according to Red Wings GM Ken Holland. If that proves to be the case, then it would be at the early end of Quincey's timetable. Any setback could potentially kill Quincey's chances of returning before the playoffs.
Kyle Quincey will not need surgery | 03/26/2013 9:27 AM
NewsKyle Quincey will not require surgery to repair his fractured cheekbone.
ImpactThat has to be good news for the veteran defenseman who was injured on March 15 when struck by a puck. He will still be out another three-five weeks so his regular season could be over if it is the latter length of time.
Kyle Quincey (cheekbone) might avoid surgery | 03/20/2013 8:55 AM
NewsKyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) might still be able to avoid surgery.
Impact"There's been no decision on whether surgery is necessary, we'll know about surgery in a week," Red Wings GM Ken Holland said. Quincey is currently projected to miss four-to-six weeks.
Kyle Quincey's season could be done | 03/18/2013 5:55 PM
NewsKyle Quincey will miss four-to-six weeks due to his fractured cheekbone.
ImpactThat means there's a good chance Quincey will miss what's left of the regular season. He suffered the injury while blocking a shot on Friday and will undergo surgery.
Kyle Quincey to face former Av teammates | 03/05/2013 9:27 AM
NewsKyle Quincey will face his former Colorado Avalanche teammates on Tuesday.
ImpactThe game is in Detroit and Quincey will find that the game in Denver on April 5 will be stranger. He spent three seasons with the Avalanche and was dealt to Detroit via Tampa Bay on Feb. 21, 2012. Quincey has only one goal with nary an assist in 20 games this eeason but is a plus-11, giving him some fantasy value.
