|Assets:||Is strong on the puck, has a good shot and the instincts of a scorer. He works hard to improve his all-round game. Has a decent frame and great hands, which he uses effectively down low near the opposing net.|
|Flaws:||Gets to where he needs to be, but isn't a great skater. Nor is he a physical player, so he's a bit of a one-trick pony. Needs to keep his motor going consistently in order to produce. He's only OK defensively.|
|Career Potential:||Quality scoring winger.|

Matt Moulson up for Lady Byng Trophy | 05/16/2013 10:29 AM

Matt Moulson records second playoff marker | 05/06/2013 11:48 AM
NewsMatt Moulson scored his second goal of the playoffs in Sunday's overtime loss to Pittsburgh.
ImpactHe has worked well with Kyle Okposo, who picked up one of the assists along with defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, since being separated from John Tavares. The two of them will probably get some shifts together as the series moves along, but the changes have worked out well so far for the Islanders' offense despite Pittsburgh's 2-1 series lead.
Moulson and Tavares split works! | 05/04/2013 12:00 PM
NewsThe move to split Matt Moulson and John Tavares up seemed to work quite well.
ImpactBoth were productive in the Islanders' 4-3 win over the Penguins Friday night. Moulson scored a goal and registered an assist, while Tavares recorded a power-play helper. No telling if Isles' coach John Capuano will continue to play Joshua Bailey on Tavares' wing or will restore Mouslon to his regular spot.
Matt Moulson moves off John Tavares' line | 05/03/2013 7:25 PM
NewsMatt Moulson has been moved off John Tavares' wing and onto the second line.

ImpactWe point this out because the two have been nearly inseparable over the last four years, forming one of the best one-two punches in hockey. Moulson had 15 goals and 29 assists this year. Joshua Bailey, who had 11 goals and 19 points this season, has been moved up to left wing on the first line. For something that has worked so well, this screams of something of a desperation move, though we can understand that coach Jack Capuano wants to balance the lineup more.

Matt Moulson has 10 assists in 11 games | 04/01/2013 10:31 AM
NewsMatt Moulson hasn't scored a goal since March 5, but he isn't exactly struggling.
New York Newsday
ImpactMoulson has recorded 10 assists in his last 11 games. He's known more for his ability to find the back of the net after reaching the 30-goal milestone in three consecutive campaigns. His shooting percentage is way down this season, but he's been finding other ways to succeed with 11 goals and 35 points in 35 games.

ImpactMoulson hasn't missed a contest since joining the Islanders in the summer of 2009. The Cornell University graduate has had three straight 30-goal seasons and is enjoying once again a career year playing alongside John Tavares. Moulson currently has 26 points in 25 games in this 48-game shortened season.
Matt Moulson is on a three-game point streak | 02/25/2013 11:36 AM
NewsMatt Moulson had a goal and an assist on Sunday.
New York Newsday
ImpactMoulson now has six points in his last three games. He set a career-high with 69 points last season and from a purely point-per-game perspective, he might do even better in the shortened campaign. Moulson already has 10 goals and 23 points in just 19 games.
Matt Moulson reaches paydirt twice in win | 02/22/2013 12:04 AM
NewsMatt Moulson scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season as the Islanders came back to enjoy a 4-3 overtime win over Montreal.
ImpactMoulson may be riding the coattails of superstar John Tavares, but he displayed great touch on a deflection for his first goal and showed a powerful trigger for his second. Frans Nielsen and Thomas Hickey also scored markers for the Isles while Tavares picked up a pair of assists.
Moulson, Tavares a dangerous duo for Isles | 02/18/2013 11:27 AM
NewsMatt Moulson and John Tavares have arguably become one of the league's top duos.
ImpactSince Tavares entered the league at 18 at the start of the 2009-10 season, Moulson has 104 goals, good for ninth in the NHL during that span. He's had three straight 30-goal seasons, jump-starting his career as a 26-year-old. This season he has seven goals and 17 points, while Tavares has 11 goals and 20 points. We know what Tavares can do, but Moulson is an excellent play as well so long as he has Tavares centering him.
Matt Moulson gets four points Saturday | 02/16/2013 10:38 PM
NewsMatt Moulson had a goal and three assists in the Islanders' 5-1 victory on Saturday.
ImpactMichael Grabner netted his sixth goal of the season. Brad Boyes registered two assists to give him 12 points in 14 contests in 2013.
Moulson ends goal drought with two markers | 02/12/2013 10:19 AM
NewsMatt Moulson notched two power-play goals and added an assist in the Islanders' 6-4 loss to Carolina on Monday night.
New York Newsday
ImpactThe two-goal outburst snapped a five-game goalless drought for the 29-year-old forward. Despite the slump, Moulson has been productive this campaign with six markers and 13 points in 12 matches. He added five shots in Monday's defeat to give him 40 shots total on the year. Riding shotgun with star player John Tavares has its advantages, but Moulson deserves plenty of credit in his own right for being able to capitalize on his chances.
Matt Moulson picks up two points in win | 01/30/2013 12:29 AM
NewsMatt Moulson scored a goal and added an assist for the Islanders in a 4-1 defeat of Pittsburgh Tuesday.
ImpactMany of the usual suspects were in on the scoring for the Islanders, as John Tavares scored his second of the season while Michael Grabner buried his fourth. Frans Nielsen also dished out a pair of assists in the victory.
Moulson scores his first two goals of 2013 | 01/25/2013 9:11 AM
NewsMatt Moulson recorded his first two goals of the season in a 7-4 win for the New York Islanders on Thursday versus Toronto.
New York Newsday
ImpactThe three-time 30-goal scorer had six shots in the contest after being credited with six shots in his previous two games combined. Moulson has proven to be an effective goal scorer for the Islanders the past three seasons and riding shotgun with star player John Tavares, who had two assists on Thursday, certainly doesn't hurt either. The two of them should be productive in the shortened 2013 season.
