Derek Meech got back into Winnipeg's lineup Monday night for the first time since April 1.
He registered an assist, which was his first point in 16 appearances with his hometown Jets, and had a plus-1 rating in 19:53 of ice time. Meech got back into the fold because of Zach Bogosian's injury.

Derek Meech finally got to make his home debut with the Jets on Tuesday night.
The Winnipeg native logged 14:05 of ice time against Toronto, while picking up a plus-2 rating and two penalty minutes. Injuries got in the way last season and the fact that he's a ways down the depth chart also hurt. Meech skated in two games with the Jets last year and he's suited up in two contests this campaign.

He was brought up as Julian Melchiori was sent down. The Jets don't have Tobias Enstrom and Zach Redmond because of injury, so Meech could see some action. He played in just two games with Winnipeg last season.

Meech has 17 points and 30 penalty minutes in 34 AHL games this season. He should be regarded primarily as a depth defenseman.

Derek Meech is dealing with a groin injury, but he's projected to attend training camp for the Jets.
Of course for that to happen he will have to receive medical clearance first. Meech will have a shot to grab a roster spot in Winnipeg going into the year due to Zach Bogosian's wrist injury. He will compete with fellow St. John's farmhands Paul Postma and Zach Redmond.
