It's unlikely anyone on the Maple Leafs will get over the feeling of collapse anytime soon, but eventually they'll move past it and start preparing for next year.

The Leafs iced the following units Friday: Joffrey Lupul-Tyler Bozak-Phil Kessel, James van Riemsdyk-Mikhail Grabovski-Nikolai Kulemin, Leo Komarov-Nazem Kadri-Clarke MacArthur, Ryan Hamilton-Jay McClement-Colton Orr. It remains to be seen if the team will lineup this way for Saturday night's Game 2. If they do, Frazer McLaren is the big loser, while Ryan Hamilton gets a chance to play.

It was the first he skated with the team since suffering a broken forearm on Jan. 23. Lupul also took shots with strengthening coach Anthony Belza and he worked on some turning drills with skating coach Barbara Underhill prior to the Leafs' on-ice session. "It's still day to day for me right now," Lupul said. "I'm at seven weeks right now. You don't just jump back into the lineup one day. You have to progress a bit every day. Everything felt good but we'll see how it (forearm) reacts tomorrow. That's a good indicator. But there are no complaints with the way it felt today (Monday)." He won't travel with the team for Tuesday's game at Winnipeg.

There's no timetable for his return, but he was originally slated to be back in mid-late March.

Lupul has been held pointless in Toronto's first two games this year, but perhaps playing with Kadri, who has been the club's top forward in the early going, can snap him out of his funk.

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Joffrey Lupul to a five-year, $26.25 million contract extension on Sunday.
The deal reportedly includes a limited no-trade clause where he can hand the Buds a list of 14 teams he'd be willing to join. That's especially relevant to the 29-year-old winger, who's been a part of four swaps in his career. He becomes one of Toronto's few forwards locked up beyond the 2013-14 season. If healthy, he's a deep draft bargain as Phil Kessel's running mate.
