Nathan Horton was confident he'd return | 06/15/2013 6:06 PM
NewsPerhaps Game 2's almost-certain return was in question, but Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton didn't think he'd sit out all of the remaining 2013 Stanley Cup Final games.
Matt Kalman on Twitter
Impact"No fear at all," Horton said. "I mean, I knew I was going to play." The soon-to-be free agent could earn himself a nice raise if he keeps up his strong postseason from the first three rounds, so that adds even more incentive than usual to fight through the pain.
Nathan Horton is 'ready to go' for Game 2 | 06/15/2013 2:14 PM
NewsBoston Bruins forward Nathan Horton was adamant about his chances of playing in Game 2 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
ImpactHe reiterated it plenty of times for CSNNE.com: "I feel good. I think I'm in. I'm ready to go, and I'm excited," Horton said. "I'm not in any pain. I feel good, and I'm ready to play. That's it. I'm ready to get going here. Everything is good. I'm back, and I'm ready to go."
Horton's status for Game 2 is still unclear | 06/15/2013 9:16 AM
NewsNathan Horton's status for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final Saturday night is still unclear.
ImpactHe allegedly re-aggrevated a left shoulder injury in Game 1 when he collided with Niklas Hjalmarsson. Horton seemingly sustained the injury in a fight with Jarome Iginla on April 20th. Despite the fact that he participated in Friday's practice, he is still listed as questionable for Saturday night's contest. Check back with us closer to game time to see if Horton suits up.
Nathan Horton practices, remains questionable | 06/14/2013 4:48 PM
NewsNathan Horton (undisclosed) took part in Friday's practice.
ImpactHorton couldn't complete Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final and is believed to be dealing with a shoulder problem. He might still be available on Saturday, but nothing has been decided. "If he's feeling better tomorrow, he's in the lineup," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "Simple as that."
Horton reportedly dealing with chronic injury | 06/14/2013 11:31 AM
NewsNathan Horton is dealing with a chronic shoulder dislocation, a source with direct knowledge of the situation tells WEEI radio.
ImpactHorton is officially day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, but it certainly looked like a shoulder injury when it happened. According to WEEI, the injury happened when Horton fought Jarome Iginla on April 20 and he's been undergoing treatment for it ever since. If this is true, the injury can be extremely painful and the shoulder is subject to dislocating at a moment's notice. Since he's played with it all postseason, we doubt the shoulder will keep Horton out of the Stanley Cup final, but we won't know anything official until Saturday's morning skate most likely.
Coach Julien calls Nathan Horton 'day-to-day' | 06/13/2013 4:17 PM
NewsCoach Claude Julien said Nathan Horton is considered day-to-day.
Boston Bruins on Twitter
ImpactHe added that he's keeping his fingers crossed that Horton will be back in the Bruins lineup for Game 2 Saturday night. We would consider him doubtful to be ready by then at this time, but he does have some time to recover.
Report: Nathan Horton's injury not serious | 06/13/2013 3:27 PM

No update on Nathan Horton yet | 06/13/2013 1:11 PM
NewsBoston coach Claude Julien didn't have an update on Nathan Horton after he left Game 1 during the first overtime period.
CSN New England
Impact"There's nothing to say because our doctors haven't finalized the evaluation properly," Julien said. Horton didn't have a cast or any other obvious signs of a serious injury when he was seen following the contest, but if the Bruins have to play without him for any stretch then it leaves a sizable hole in their lineup. Hopefully, the Bruins will be able to update his status later this afternoon.

Nathan Horton not thinking about contract yet | 06/12/2013 10:01 AM
NewsPotential UFA Nathan Horton said he wants to stay with the Boston Bruins, but he isn't thinking about his future with the team right now.
Impact"We've got so much going on," he said. "No matter what happens, I think I'll be playing somewhere. I'm just going out and playing hockey because in the end there's nothing I can really do about it. I think the way I am, not thinking about anything and just going out and playing, has helped me a lot. Let things lie where they lie." Horton has been remarkable in the playoffs with seven goals and 17 points in 16 games. He is also first in the league with a plus-21 rating.
Nathan Horton in strong negotiating position | 06/10/2013 9:41 AM
NewsNathan Horton is making it tough for the Boston Bruins to consider letting him walk as an unrestricted free agent this summer.
CSN New England
ImpactAnd yet, the Bruins might part ways with Horton anyways. Horton has excelled in the postseason with seven goals and 17 points in 16 games, but the Bruins are in a salary cap crunch. If they want him back, they're going to have to make room for him by trading someone or buying out a contract.
B's top-six has outplayed Pens' at both ends | 06/05/2013 9:11 AM
NewsBoston's top-six forward group has outperformed Pittsburgh's after two games of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ImpactWhen you look at their totals in the playoffs there are plenty of similarities between the two teams, but there is one key difference. Boston's Nathan Horton, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and Jaromir Jagr have combined for 75 points and a plus-54 rating in 14 games, while Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Jarome Iginla, Pascal Dupuis, Chris Kunitz and James Neal have totaled 72 points in 13 games but they have a minus-9 rating. The Bruins get plenty of two-way play out of their top forwards and that has been evident through the first two games of the series. Horton leads the postseason with a plus-19 rating.
Nathan Horton is firing on all cylinders | 06/04/2013 7:41 AM

ImpactHorton has been on a tear in the playoffs with three goals and eight points during his current four-game scoring streak. He has seven markers and 17 points in 14 games, which places him second in points behind only linemate David Krejci heading into Tuesday night's action. Boston has received plenty of production out of the combination of Horton, Krejci and Milan Lucic during these playoffs.
Nathan Horton excels in the playoffs | 06/03/2013 8:54 AM
NewsNathan Horton has 14 goals and 32 points in 34 career postseason contests.
ImpactThat's a far better pace than Horton has maintained in the regular season. In fact, with 15 points in the 2013 playoffs, Horton is approaching his regular season total of 22 points. Boston's Daniel Paille tried to explain Horton and some of his other teammates' ability to take their game a level higher in the playoffs. "I'm not sure if it's so much boredom, but it's more trying to pace yourself, I guess," he said. "But I think playoffs is when you want to play and you have to work to get there. And I think they obviously did a good enough job for us to get here, and their play speaks for itself right now."
Nathan Horton continues hot streak | 06/02/2013 3:16 PM
NewsWhile he isn't leading the 2013 postseason in scoring like David Krejci, Nathan Horton is putting together the kind of playoff run that could make him a lot of money ... even if it's not with the Boston Bruins.
ImpactSix of Horton's impressive 15 points have come in the last three games. The power forward has a point in all but three of his 13 contests. While his 23.1 percent shooting efficiency isn't likely to last, plenty of suitors are likely to come his way this summer if Boston cannot retain him.
Nathan Horton has excelled in the playoffs | 05/31/2013 9:01 AM
NewsNathan Horton has been superb so far in the playoffs.
ImpactHorton has five goals and 12 points in 12 games. He hasn't been held off the scoresheet for more than two consecutive contests in the postseason. He didn't have a particularly good campaign from a fantasy perspective, but he's stepped up when they've needed him the most. That likely won't be forgotten when it comes time to negotiate his new contract. He's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Nathan Horton triggers Boston's comeback | 05/14/2013 8:48 AM
NewsNathan Horton's third-period goal triggered the Bruins' improbable rally over the Leafs.
ImpactDown 4-1 with a little more than 14 minutes left, the Bruins had little energy and they were hearing it from the crowd. But Horton's goal provided a jolt. "It was tough there on the bench, getting booed, and looking at the time clock and watching the seconds count down," said Brad Marchand. ... "After [Horton] got that first one for us that started the climb back, we see the emotion on the bench and guys started to believe. That's what we needed."
Horton takes hit to help Bruins win in OT | 05/09/2013 9:46 AM
NewsLinemate David Krejci credited Nathan Horton with taking a hit to make a play on his overtime winner in Game 4 Wednesday night.
ImpactToronto captain stepped up on Horton during the extra session, but he managed to get the puck to Krejci who scored his third goal of the contest to give Boston a 3-1 series lead. Horton had two helpers Wednesday night, but failed to score a goal for the first time in four games. Overall, he has six points (three goals, three assists) against Toronto in the series.
Horton has been integral to Boston's wins | 05/08/2013 6:41 AM
NewsNathan Horton has scored in three straight games against Toronto heading into Game 4 Wednesday night.
ImpactTwo of his markers have been game winners and a result the Bruins hold a 2-1 series lead in their quarterfinal series versus the Maple Leafs. Horton didn't get to play in the postseason last year because of a concussion, so he's excited to be back and competing again. "I just really want to do well," he said. "I'm moving my feet. I'm not thinking too much, just playing my game. Playing better has a lot to do with having a lot of fun. It's only been three games, but it's fun to play in the playoffs, that's for sure." Horton has also chipped in an assist and owns a plus-5 rating. He is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and would like to re-sign with Boston, but with the playoffs still going he isn't thinking about that situation yet.
Nathan Horton buries Leafs with 2-point night | 05/06/2013 10:23 PM
NewsNathan Horton had the game-winning goal and an assist in Monday night's 5-2 Game 4 win.
ImpactHorton's goal turned out to be the game winner after Phil Kessel scored 47 seconds into the third period, but it was the timing of Horton's goal that mattered the most. After throwing shot after shot at the net, the Maple Leafs finally got on the board at 13:45 of the second period to cut Boston's lead to 2-1. Unfortunately for Toronto, Horton scored just 50 seconds later to make it 3-1 and Daniel Paille potted a short-handed goal at 16:37 to up it to 4-1.

The series is now tied at 1-1 and will head to Toronto.
Horton looked strong in Game 1 after layoff | 05/04/2013 10:49 AM
NewsNathan Horton may have benefited from his five-game layoff due to what was believed to be a wrist injury.
ImpactHe returned to action for Game 1 against Toronto looking refreshed and was very effective scoring a goal, administering three hits and taking three shots on Leaf netminder James Reimer. Boston coach Calude Julien even admitted that the rest may have helped Horton. "I thought he was coming along pretty well," Julien said. "When he got hurt, I thought he was coming along, I liked his game. But at the same time, maybe the rest did help. But he was a good player down the stretch. Had he kept going, I think we would've seen a good player to finish the season off." Anyway you look at it, Horton seems to be poised for a big post-season. Keep that in mind when setting your playoff pool rosters.
Nathan Horton listed as game-time decision | 05/01/2013 12:19 PM
NewsNathan Horton is being listed as a game-time decision for Game 1 on Wednesday night, but it appears to be a safe bet that he'll play.

CSN New England
ImpactCoach Claude Julien was a little more cautious than Horton on Tuesday, saying he wanted to see how Horton feels on Wednesday before making the final decision. We should know his status for certain after Wednesday's morning skate. Horton missed the last five games of the regular season with a suspected hand or wrist injury.

Nathan Horton struggles to produce points | 03/14/2013 9:34 AM
NewsNathan Horton has one goal in his last 10 contests.
ImpactHe has also picked up just two assists over that span. The Bruins expect more from him and linemate Milan Lucic, but they haven't been getting much from either of lately. At least with Horton, he's still registering shots with more regularity. The two of them, along with center David Krejci, need to do more to help out Patrice Bergeron's unit and provide the team with more a balanced attack.
Nathan Horton scores two in win over TB | 02/22/2013 12:37 AM
NewsNathan Horton recorded his fifth and sixth goals of the season Thursday as the Bruins dropped Tampa Bay by a score of 4-2.

Nathan Horton practices on Bruins' 2nd line | 02/09/2013 10:20 AM
NewsBruin coach Claude Julien seems willing to continue to play Nathan Horton on Boston's second line.
ImpactJulien shuffled his lines last game promoting Tyler Seguin to the first unit alongside David Krejci and Milan Lucic, while moving Horton down to play with Patrice Bergeron and Rich Peverley. Given that that was how the practice lines were on Friday, we expect Horton to once again line up on the second unit. The demotion has a marginal negative impact on Horton's fantasy value.
B's getting production out of Horton line | 01/31/2013 10:38 AM
NewsGoing into the 2013 campaign there were some questions how the line of Nathan Horton, David Krejci and Milan Lucic would do.
ImpactAfter all, Horton was returning from a concussion and Lucic hadn't played anywhere during the lockout. Luckily for the Bruins, there has been no drop off in play of the talented trio on the ice through six games this season. Horton has produced three goals and two assists in his past four contests, while Lucic has four points on the year and Krejci, who played overseas during the work stoppage, has recorded six points.

NewsNathan Horton got his first bit of game action and he initiated some contact during Boston's Tuesday night scrimmage.
Impact"It felt really good to be out there," said Horton, who hasn't played since Jan. 22, 2012 because of a concussion. "It's different than anything else. I've been doing scrimmages, a little shinny, practices. It's way different being on the ice in a game situation. It feels so good to be back. I have no worries, no nothing. I just feel myself. Just trying to push as hard as I can, move my feet, and try to get back as soon as possible." The Bruins will need Horton and his linemate Milan Lucic to come out of the gate quickly in the shortened season, but it may take the big-bodied forwards some time to find their legs.
