Assets:	Can pinch in from the point and make accurate passes out of the defensive zone. Plays with poise and owns an accurate shot from the point. Can play a shutdown role when required.
Flaws:	Must learn how to withstand the pounding in the NHL for 82 games, since he tends to get injured a lot. Is vulnerable in physical contests. Isn't great at putting up points or using his size.
Career Potential:	Veteran depth defenseman, when healthy.

He didn't play in New York's first four postseason contests, but got the chance to play because of an injury to shutdown defenseman Andrew MacDonald. Martinek finished the Islanders' Game 5 4-0 loss to Pittsburgh with two shots and a minus-1 rating.
