NewsDennis Seidenberg is hoping that the Boston Bruins only tinker with their lineup in the off-season.
CSN New England
ImpactThe Bruins lost in the second round of the NHL playoffs last month and since many of the so-called pundits thought they would go to the Cup Final, drastic changes could be made. GM Peter Chiarelli and Bruins President Cam Neely stated that Boston would only tinker with the lineup but a hockey source told CSNNE.com that the Bruins will be 'very active' in the trade market. It should be an interesting off-season for the Boston Bruins.
Dennis Seidenberg should be ready for camp | 06/05/2014 5:32 PM
NewsDennis Seidenberg (knee) expects to be ready for training camp in the fall.
CSN New England
ImpactHe was hoping to play at some point in the playoffs, but Boston was eliminated in Round 2 by Montreal so he didn't get a chance to see if his knee was game-ready. "We would have had some practices after Round 2, and would have seen how I was doing taking some contact and battling a little harder," said Seidenberg. "There definitely would have been a chance [for a return]. I'm sure for the guys that played [not moving on] was a little bit tougher." He's still not 100 percent, but he is recovering nicely.
Dennis Seidenberg expects to come back better | 05/22/2014 9:21 AM
NewsDennis Seidenberg expects to come back strong from his surgically-repaired knee next season.
CSN New England
Impact"I'll be better. I'm confident I'll be just as [good], hopefully better than before," he said. "I mean I feel conditioning wise [the knee] is great. I've been doing lots of cardio over the last few months. Strength-wise it's the same ... pretty good. There's still a little pain, but that's just stuff you can deal with, and once you play you don't think about it." Seidenberg may have been able to play for the Bruins during the Eastern Conference Final had the team advanced past Round 2 of the postseason, so it's expected that he'll be good to go by the time training camp comes around. He's a top-four defender on Boston and the team missed him dearly when he suffered a torn ACL/MCL on Dec. 27.
Dennis Seidenberg may have played in ECF | 05/15/2014 10:58 AM

Impact"There was a possibility, yeah," Julien said. "He'd been skating for almost a month and he started taking a little bit of contact, and I think that would have been a discussion that we would have had heading into the next round." Seidenberg had been sidelined since Dec. 27 after undergoing surgery for ACL/MCL tears and the Bruins missed him dearly in the playoffs. Some of the Bruins' young defensemen struggled under the high-pressure situations in the semifinal round against Montreal.

Dennis Seidenberg skates with his teammates | 04/30/2014 7:04 AM
NewsDennis Seidenberg (knee) skated with his teammates on Tuesday morning.
Impact"He's just skated with us and doing everything that has no contact," coach Claude Julien said. "It's more to get him out of boredom on his own or with just another player. It gives him the opportunity to make some plays and passes with a little bit of traffic around him too. We thought it was a good time for him that he's strong enough with his skating that he can jump to that level right now." Seidenberg isn't expected to return any time soon, but he hasn't been completely ruled out for the playoffs.

NewsDennis Seidenberg will be entering the final year of his contract with the Boston Bruins this season.
CSN New England
ImpactThe veteran defenseman said there hasn't been much ground covered between his agent, J.P. Barry, and the Bruins in negotiations to this point. Seidenberg would like to earn an extension to stay in Boston, but he doesn't want it to turn into a distraction. "You try to put it in the back of your mind, use it as fuel and just play the best that you can," he said. "If the two sides start talking I don't really want to be a big part of it. I want to hear little bits of it, but I don't want to be heavily involved [in negotiations]. It could be a distraction, and I just want to focus on this season and how I'm going to play." The Bruins have some younger blueliners in the pipeline who are expected to get increased roles this season, which should help fire the competitive juices of Seidenberg as well.

Dennis Seidenberg not happy with Bruins play | 06/16/2013 9:56 AM
NewsBruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg believes the Bruins were fortunate to escape Game Two of the Stanley Cup Finals with a victory.
Impact"We knew we were terrible. We knew we were lucky to still be in this game," Seidenberg said. "We just told ourselves we have to be better, help Tuukka out and do it for ourselves." The Bruins were outshot by the Blackhawks in the defeat and were also on the lucky end of a controversial non-goal call that waived of what would have been a Chicago tally. Seidenberg himself will be one of the key players charged with improvement the team's defensive effort as the series shifts to Boston for Game Three.
Seidenberg says Bruins can be better on D | 06/07/2013 9:01 AM
NewsDennis Seidenberg said the Bruins can be better defensively against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Friday's Game 4.
ImpactThat's a pretty crazy thing to say considering the Bruins have held the Penguins to three goals in the series, which Boston leads 3-0. Seidenberg and partner Zdeno Chara are a big reason why the Penguins have gotten zero points this series out of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, Jarome Iginla and Kris Letang. Still, Seidenberg thinks the Bruins took their foot off the gas in Game 3 and nearly paid for it. "We just turned too many pucks over and that created a lot of speed for them attacking us. So (tonight) hopefully we'll be a little bit better in that category, and that allows us to be even better again defensively," Seidenberg said Thursday.
Bruins have match-up calls to make | 05/29/2013 4:27 PM
NewsDennis Seidenberg skated with Zdeno Chara and Matt Bartkowski during Wednesday's practice.
CSN New England
ImpactSeidenberg is usually paired with Chara against the opposition's top lines, but Boston's third-round adversary - the Pittsburgh Penguins - have two potent combinations that require equal attention. Seidenberg and Chara may line up against Evgeni Malkin's combination and the responsibility of shutting down Sidney Crosby's trio would fall on the shoulders of Patrice Begeron's unit.

Impact"There's a chance for sure," he said after the skate. "But you don't want to come back too early. We'll see how it feels [Thursday] and go from there." There is also the possibility that the Bruins may hold him out of the lineup for Game 4 because the team's defense has performed so well against the Rangers in the series.

Bruins again might've found shutdown duo | 04/26/2013 8:38 AM
NewsThe Bruins again might be reuniting Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg in the postseason.
ImpactThe two were back together again against the Lightning, keeping the Teddy Purcell-Steven Stamikos-Martin St. Louis line pointless. The shutdown duo has been together the past two postseasons, but it's only been together for brief stretches this season. Against a top-heavy first line, the pair could be used again in the playoffs. You could see that we feel comfortable with each other," said Seidenberg. "We keep it simple. We talk to each other. We communicate well out there. It resulted in us shutting them down, for the most part.

NewsDennis Seidenberg has been working on Boston's top power-play unit lately, but it's a move that coach Claude Julien doesn't expect to last.
ImpactJulien thinks Seidenberg's shooting has been inconsistent this season. Julien also doesn't want to be burned once a man advantage situation is over and he can't get Zdeno Chara or Seidenberg out on the ice against the opposition's top line. Dennis Seidenberg gets a point Sunday | 02/11/2013 9:25 AM
NewsDennis Seidenberg got his first point of the season on Sunday.
ImpactSeidenberg assisted on Milan Lucic's empty-net goal. The fact that it took him eight games to get his first point is a bit of an anomaly. He's not a pure offensive defenseman, but he usually puts up a moderate amount of points by blueliner standards and that shouldn't change this season. He's a fringe defenseman in standard fantasy leagues, but if you happen to use hits and blocked shots as categories, then Seidenberg is one of the most well-rounded defensemen in the league.
