Dustin Brown has been named a finalist for the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award.
He has served as Kings' captain for the past five seasons and is frequently among the league leaders for hits. Brown supports several charities through his physical style. He donates $50 for each hit he delivers which has helped him raise $60,000.

Again, it's playoffs, and the best retribution is winning games right now." The Kings will get a chance to take a 2-0 lead on the Sharks on Thursday.

Dustin Brown said the Los Angeles Kings will have to be even better on the penalty kill during their second-round series against the San Jose Sharks.
"They really thrive on their power play," Brown said. "You look at their stretches during the regular season when they went on those tears, it's because their power play was really good. Our PK was good last series, but it's going to have to be even better against these guys." Brown and the Kings had the fourth-best PK unit through the first round, but the Sharks scored seven power-play goals in just four games, tied for the league lead with two teams that played six and seven games in their series.

Dustin Brown said Monday's comeback win in Game 4 reminded him of the team's Stanley Cup run last summer.
"I think there was a lot of things reminiscent of last year," Brown said. "Part of it was our will. We didn't give up. We were down 2-0 early. Down 3-2 going into the third. You have (Jonathan) Quick making big saves. Our best players were being our best players." The Kings have looked outmatched against the Blues more than once during this series, but it's hard to disagree with Brown after watching Game 4. Last year's Kings never seemed out of a game, no matter how many goals they trailed by. We'll see if the momentum carries over to Game 5.

Brown now has 20 hits in three games to lead the NHL thus far as he is five hits ahead of the Blues Ryan Reaves. Brown also has a power play goal and four penalty minutes in the playoffs.

Brown's streak didn't end because he got hurt, but instead because he elbowed Minnesota's Jason Pominville in the face. Without their captain, the Kings suffered a 3-1 loss to Detroit on Wednesday. Brown is eligible to return for the start of the playoffs, but his absence is hurting their chances of securing the fourth seed.

Dustin Brown has reportedly been suspended two games for his elbow to the head of Minnesota's Jason Pominville on Tuesday night.
Lisa Dillman of the the Los Angeles Times reported the news via a club official on her Twitter page. The Kings have two games remaining on their regular-season schedule, so Brown will be eligible to return for the team's playoff opener.

Dustin Brown will face a disciplinary hearing from the NHL Department of Player Safety on Wednesday afternoon for his apparent elbow to the head of Minnesota's Jason Pominville on Tuesday night.
Brown appeared to strike Pomiville in the jaw with the hit, but was not given a penalty on the play. Pominville was had to be helped to the bench and did not return to the game.

Like the rest of the Kings, he just hasn't found a rhythm so far, with just 15 points in 25 games. His recent play, however, provides some optimism for owners. Mike Richards also tallied his seventh of the season in the loss.

At the end of February it looked like Brown had finally found his touch again but then he went on another long slump. Now Brown has four points in his last four games and hopefully his production will be more consistent in the second half of the seaosn. He gives you hits and PIM's too so he's a useful depth winger in all formats.

Both forwards fired seven shots on goal but had nothing to show for it. They also compiled two PIM a piece, so they at least helped you in the peripheral categories. Anze Kopitar and Alec Martinez were the Kings' goal scorers in a 3-2 loss to Detroit.

Brown and the rest of his defending Stanley Cup Champion teammates have started the season with quite a slump, but with three goals in his past two games, Brown is showing glimpses of living up to his potential this year. Through seven games, he has three goals and one assist.

Brown was as cold as you can be on both ends of the ice to start the season, but so was the majority of his team. Brown, Mike Richards, and Justin Williams combine for one goal, four assists and a brutal -9 to start the year. Hold off on icing these King's if you have other options.

The highlight of his career was obviously lifting the Stanley Cup over his head as captain of the Kings in June. He has 160 goals and 360 points in his NHL career but is off to a slow start this season with one assist and a minus-four rating in four games.
