|Assets:||Had the build of a power forward. Was capable of playing both wing positions. Displayed plenty of versatility on the ice. Was most effective when he was hitting opponents consistently.|
|Flaws:||Did not use his 6-5 frame more to his advantage, since he wasn't always a presence on the ice (but should have been). Didn't score regularly at the highest level and also lacked discipline.|
|Career Potential:||Rugged, inconsistent depth winger.|

Brad Winchester signs tryout with Flames | 01/14/2013 6:41 AM
NewsThe Calgary Flam es have signed Brad Winchester to a professional tryout.
ImpactWinchester was an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after playing last season with San Jose where he potted six goals and had 10 points. He is a fourth line player who plays all out. "Given the body of work that he has had in his career . . . he's a big guy and he's a hard guy to play against," GM Jay Feaster said. "He's a tenacious guy on the forecheck. We thought he did a real good job last season in San Jose, for example. We just felt that because he was willing to come in on a tryout basis, it's a free look for us. We'll see where it goes." Winchester had 88 penalty minutes last season and the Flames could use a replacement for Tom Kostopolous who filled that role last season.
