NewsBuffalo won't make the playoffs this season, but they can still spoil the Jets' chances on Monday.
ImpactWinnipeg is three point out of eighth place with just three games left. The two teams will play on Monday. "I guess you can say jealousy breeds a little bit of frustration, and if they have a chance at this, we can possibly knock them off and make them feel the same way that we feel," Steve Ott said. "Personally and pride-wise, I would like to do that to another team so they can have this same feeling."

Steve Ott not worried about fan backlash | 04/10/2013 9:58 AM
NewsSteve Ott wasn't afraid to stick up for his teammates during a radio interview Wednesday where he criticized Buffalo's fans for booing the club on home ice.
Impact"I think it's completely ridiculous, to be honest with you," Ott said. In a follow-up discussion, he commented that he wasn't worried about how the fans will react when the team returns home for Thursday's match versus Montreal. "They're proud, passionate fans. I love it," he said. "I think we're all that way. I'm an emotional player. They're emotional fans. We have the same attitude in this dressing room. I think it's great they show they care. Obviously, just looking for that positive atmosphere in that arena. There's a lot of great factors, things to be proud of getting closer to that playoff spot." Ott has eight goals, 21 points and 67 penalty minutes in 40 games during his first season as a Buffalo Sabre.

NewsSteve Ott registered an assist in his 600th NHL game Thursday.
ImpactIn typical Ott fashion, he also added two penalty minutes, two hits and had a plus-1 rating. Ott has started to fit in with the Sabres, playing much better under coach Ron Rolston than he did under previous bench boss Lindy Ruff. He remains a useful fantasy player that can help owners with points and penalty minutes and is even more useful in leagues that count hits.
Rolston gives Steve Ott more responsibilities | 03/21/2013 9:58 AM

Steve Ott enjoys time on Sabres' top line | 03/20/2013 9:52 AM
NewsSteve Ott's two-goal outburst Tuesday night was helped by getting top-six minutes alongside Jason Pominville and Cody Hodgson.
Impact"It's a treat playing with those guys," Ott said. "They're both highly, highly skilled. Cody is an up-and-coming first-line superstar centerman with his hands and Pommer is Pommer." Interim coach Ron Rolston moved Thomas Vanek to the second line to start the contest and since Vanek got hurt, you can probably expect to see Ott remain on the top line in Buffalo's next game. He snapped a 13-game goal drought Tuesday night against Montreal.

"I like the determination of the guys to come back and battle and continue to push, push, push. But at the end of it all, we'd be a lot happier with the two points that we deserve to be walking out with," said Ott, who has seven points and 38 penalty minutes on the year.
Ott's start not anything to get excited over | 02/02/2013 3:13 PM
NewsSteve Ott has two points and 13 penalty minutes in seven games this season.
ImpactThat's not exactly a start to get excited over, but the good news is that he has been getting plenty of playing time. Ott is logging 17:56 minutes per game, including a respectable 2:12 minutes with the man advantage. As long as he continues to get that kind of ice time, the points should start to come. Ott might reach the 25-point mark this season while averaging close to two PIM per contest.
