Marian Gaborik has successful surgery | 05/09/2013 6:08 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik had successful abdominal surgery Thursday.
ImpactHe will require 3-4 weeks to heal and is expected to spend most of that time in Columbus. Gaborik is expected to be OK in time for training camp after he had a "mesh patch," that was put in place during a sports hernia procedure he had in 2001, adjusted.
Report: Gaborik will have abdominal surgery | 05/01/2013 6:31 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik will have abdominal surgery on Wednesday or Thursday and he's projected to need three-to-four weeks to recover.
Impact"Marian experienced some soreness towards the end of the season and after undergoing his exit physical and further examination today, it was decided that surgery is the best option for a quick and full recovery," said Jackets president of hockey operations John Davidson. "Marian will have the surgery and after a three to four week recovery period will be able to resume off-season training." He won't get to play for Slovakia at the IIHF World Championships, but he should be ready for training camp in the fall. Gaborik notched three goals and five assists in 12 games with Columbus after he was traded by the New York Rangers.
Report: Gaborik seeks abdominal specialist | 05/01/2013 9:56 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik is reportedly going to be examined by an abdominal specialist.
ImpactTeam Slovakia GM Otta Sykora said that Gaborik has the Blue Jackets consent to play in the 2013 IIHF World Championship if he gets medical clearance. "It would, in the case of a positive report, mean that maybe on Thursday or by Friday morning, Marian could be in Helsinki," Sykora added. Gaborik played in 47 games this season, but it's worth noting that he's previously dealt with groin issues.
Veteran Marian Gaborik sparking Blue Jackets | 04/24/2013 10:20 AM
NewsVeteran left winger Marian Gaborik, acquired in a blockbuster trade from the New York Rangers three weeks ago, has three goals and four assists in 10 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
ImpactThe Blue Jackets are 7-3 with Gaborik in the lineup. They are coming off a five-game trip that netted four victories. Their sudden and surprising ascension is among the most captivating stories of the post-lockout NHL. Columbus coach Todd Richards on Gaborik: "What I see," Richards said, "is a player who is engaged." Forward Vinny Prospal added: "He's a huge part in the way other teams have to respect his ability to score, and it opens up a lot of holes for other players," Prospal said. "He knows we're a hard-working team and we don't necessarily score a lot of goals. He also knows in our system, we don't give up a lot, either. He understands all of this and how he fits into it."

NewsMarian Gaborik had a team-high four shots on goal in a 3-0 loss Sunday.
ImpactGaborik had a goal and three points in his first two games with the Blue Jackets. Obviously, this game didn't go as Columbus had hoped, but Gaborik should still finish the 2013 campaign on a high note.
Marian Gaborik will play first in Columbus | 04/07/2013 8:25 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik will play his first game in front of a home crowd as a member of the Blue Jackets Sunday.

Marian Gaborik leads new-look Jackets to win | 04/04/2013 10:43 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik scored a goal and added an assist in his first game with Columbus en route to a 3-1 win over the Predators.
ImpactIt's no surprise that Gaborik has begun to play well immediately after being traded by the Rangers, as it was clear he did not see eye-to-eye with coach John Tortorella. Matt Calvert also picked up a goal and an assist in the victory while James Wisniewski added a power-play marker.
Gaborik to play with ex-Rangers in CBJ debut | 04/04/2013 5:20 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik will have familiar faces on his line in his Columbus debut Thursday night.
ImpactHe will skate alongside former Rangers teammates Artem Anisimov and Vaclav Prospal on the top unit. "I've played a lot with Arty and Vinny," Gaborik said. "We had some good games together in New York. We're going to work hard and enjoy ourselves out there, do whatever it takes." Gaborik had been going through some tough times in the Big Apple prior to the move, so he's genuinely excited for a fresh start with the Blue Jackets.
Gaborik looks forward to playing with CBJ | 04/04/2013 9:29 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik is looking forward to playing with Columbus.
ImpactGaborik waived his no-trade clause so that the Rangers could ship him to the Blue Jackets in a four-player deal. "It's nice to be part of a team that really wanted me," Gaborik said. "The team has shown they're going in the right direction. We haven't been performing the way we should (for the Rangers), myself included. It wasn't the way anybody expected. I haven't been having fun this year; I don't think the whole team has at all. I'm looking forward to this challenge." Gaborik has just 19 points in 35 games this season, but we're expecting big things from him thanks to this change of scenery. Look for him record about a point-per-game for the rest of the season.

Gaborik to start v Habs on 4th line | 03/30/2013 11:48 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik is likely to start Saturday night's game against the Canadiens on the Rangers' fourth line.
The Bergen Record
ImpactHe has struggled scoring only one goal in his last 11 games and it looks as if New York coach John Tortorella has had enough of Gaborik's disinterested play. Gaborik practised Friday on a line with Taylor Pyatt and Kris Newbury. Matts Zuccarello will take his place alongside Brad Richards and Chris Kreider. Gaborik seems to acknowledge his shoddy play and the need to pick up his game. "I have to be better," said Gaborik. "I have to get out of this, just get going somehow. We have 15 games left, it's time to get everybody going and, of course, myself as well." We still believe the talented winger will bounce back. The question is when?
Gaborik held goalless for 3rdth straight time | 03/28/2013 10:36 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik was unable to record a goal for the third straight time in the Rangers' 3-0 loss to Ottawa Thursday.
ImpactGaborik has registered only one assist in his past three games and had disappointed his fantasy owners with only nine markers in 33 contests. The Rangers as a whole have struggled offensively, outside of a few exceptions, and will need to get their act together if they wish to maintain a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Marian Gaborik scores in loss to Florida | 03/21/2013 10:20 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik scored the only Rangers goal in a 3-1 loss to Florida Thursday night.

Rangers reunite Gaborik, Nash, Brad Richards | 03/18/2013 1:35 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik has been reunited with Rick Nash and Brad Richards on the New York Ragners' top line.
The Bergen Record
ImpactThe three superstars started the season together, but the Rangers eventually separated them. It looks like with the Rangers struggling and Gaborik not producing recently, coach John Tortorella is willing to give the combination another chance.
Gaborik, Rangers growing further apart? | 03/14/2013 11:09 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik's days with the New York Rangers may be numbered, according to Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record.
The Bergen Record
ImpactHe may not be dealt until the season is over or until after the final year of his contract expires following the 2013-14 campaign, but the Rangers are rumored to be gauging interest around the league. Coach John Tortorella dropped Gaborik to the third line to start the third period Tuesday night. The Rangers winger didn't make a big deal out of the decision, but his issues with consistency have frustrated the Blueshirts bench boss and fantasy owners alike. He has one goal in his last 12 games and eight over 25 on the year, with five of his markers coming in two outings. Gaborik also has a minus-3 rating and he doesn't fit the mold of the grinding style that Tortorella likes to see. He was great last season so it's reasonable to believe that he's just suffering from an off year in a lockout-shortened campaign. However, there is some truth to the idea that Gaborik and the Rangers may be better off taking different directions.
Marian Gaborik relieved to finally score | 03/08/2013 10:18 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik was relieved to finally find the back of the net.
ImpactThe Slovakian sniper still has eight goals and 16 points on the year, but Thursday's goal was his first in nine games, and it was a big overtime game-winner. "It feels great to get the monkey off my back," said Gaborik. "It feels good to get that game winner. Every time you don't score for a few games, maybe you grip the stick a little harder. Hopefully, they'll come in bunches right now."
Marian Gaborik mired in goal slump | 03/01/2013 11:21 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik hasn't scored in six games.
ImpactHe has only one assist in that span. With Rick Nash returning, Gaborik was dropped to the third line Thursday. While this isn't great news, Gaborik is one of the streakiest players around and it wouldn't be surprising to see him pot a few over the next few games.
Gaborik will look to improve goal production | 02/28/2013 11:20 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik snapped a four-game point slump with an assist against Winnipeg Tuesday night.
The Bergen Record
ImpactHe leads the Rangers with seven goals this season, but he's found the back of the net in just four games despite 62 shots. Gaborik tends to score in bunches though, so it's safer to dress him and hope for the best than to miss out on nights where he finally breaks out.
Marian Gaborik benched in Montreal Saturday | 02/24/2013 11:31 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik only played 11 minutes in Saturday's lost to the Montreal Canadiens.
New York Daily News

Marian Gaborik takes Nash's place Tuesday | 02/20/2013 11:29 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik took Rick Nash's spot alongside Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Montreal.
New York Newsday
ImpactThe Rangers winger has been cold of late with two goals and one assist in his past 10 games, but he can produce points in bunches fairly quickly so stay patient with him. Nash missed the game with an undisclosed injury.
Marian Gaborik erupts for four points in win | 01/26/2013 10:59 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik's four-point night fueled the Rangers to a 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
ImpactThe sniper had two goals and two assists to give him eight points on the season. Coach John Tortorella stacked the top line (Gaborik, Brad Richards, Rick Nash) a few games ago and the trio has been, as expected, nearly impossible to contain. New York was down 2-0, and Richards, who also had an assist, began the scoring in the second period. Nash had two helpers and a game-high eight shots on goal. All of them finished with a plus-four rating.
Marian Gaborik records hat trick in OT win | 01/23/2013 11:21 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik notched a hat trick to power the Rangers to a 4-3 overtime victory over the Bruins.
ImpactThat shoulder looks like it's doing just fine ... and so is the newly-formed star-studded number one line with Brad Richards and Rick Nash, who each had assists in the team's first win. Gaborik and Nash also had a game-high six shots on goal. Tayler Pyatt potted his second of the year as he saw some minutes on the second line toward the end of the game, which is a good sign for him but probably not for the team in the long run. Marc Staal, Derek Stepan and Michael Del Zotto had the other assists.
Marian Gaborik moves up to Rangers' top line | 01/23/2013 11:47 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik practiced on the first line, with Brad Richards and Rick Nash, on Tuesday.
The Bergen Record
ImpactThe Rangers have started the 2013 campaign 0-2, so they will load up their first line versus Boston for Wednesday night's game. "We have to be better, we don't have a lot of time," said Gaborik. "I believe it's going to come [tonight]." He led the team with 41 goals and 76 assists last season, but he hasn't notched a point in two games so far this year.
Rangers to shift Marian Gaborik to LW | 01/14/2013 1:25 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik is projected to start at left wing to open the season.
New York Post
Impact"Torts [coach John Tortorella] told me that's where he'd like to see me, so I'm going to prepare and practice at left wing," said Gaborik, who has played the right side for the vast majority of his career. "There's definitely going to be an adjustment, especially in our own zone and with wall play, so I'll work on that whenever I get the chance." He shoots left-handed and has played left wing for Slovakia at the Olympics. "I like shooting from the left side," Gaborik said. "I feel very comfortable with my shot from [the left wing circle], so that could be an advantage." He may start the year with Derek Stepan and Ryan Callahan as his linemates, but he should see shifts with Rick Nash and Brad Richards as well throughout the course of the campaign.
Gaborik anxious to test shoulder at camp | 01/10/2013 10:45 AM
NewsMarian Gaborik joined his teammates on the ice for an informal skate on Wednesday.
The Bergen Record
ImpactHe underwent off-season shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum and is fully recovered now thanks to the lockout. "I feel good; my shoulder feels fine," Gaborik said. "To be back here, it's a very exciting time to get this done and start playing. It's going to be a hard 10 days until we start, but everybody has to get ready and jump into it." He was medically cleared in mid-December and is looking forward to testing his shoulder in contact drills during the team's abbreviated training camp.
Tortorella: Marian Gabork 'fine' for camp | 01/08/2013 1:34 PM
NewsRangers coach John Tortorella said that Marian Gaborik is "fine" and that he would be ready for the start of training camp.
The Bergen Record
ImpactGaborik underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder back in June and he made plenty of progress due to the lockout. He has had injury problems in the past, but he did play in a full 82-game schedule for the first time last season and ended up leading the Rangers with 41 goals and 76 points.
Marian Gaborik set to return to N.A. | 01/07/2013 3:52 PM
NewsMarian Gaborik spent his Christmas vacation in Slovakia so he isn't in North America right now, but he will be ready to go when the NHL begins its abbreviated 2012-13 season.
New York Newsday
ImpactThe New York Rangers leading scorer from 2011-12 has used the work stoppage to recover from off-season shoulder surgery. It was reported last month that he would be ready to play if the league and the union could agree on a new CBA to start the regular season in January. We would still monitor how he performs at camp, but feel free to select him in your drafts.
