|Assets:||Can quarterback a power play effectively. Is an extremely gifted offensive talent. Has plenty of creativity and intelligence with the puck. Owns outstanding mobility and confidence (especially with the puck).|
|Flaws:||Can get knocked off the puck a bit too easily at the National Hockey Level level. His work in the defensive zone, and without the puck in general, isn't stellar by any means. Isn't a consistent hitter, either.|
|Career Potential:||Quality power play quarterback and offensive defenseman.|

Report: Brian Campbell wants to be traded | 06/18/2014 12:11 PM
NewsBrian Campbell reportedly would like the Florida Panthers to trade him.
Andy Strickland on Twitter
ImpactIs there much of a market for Campbell though? He's certainly a valuable offensive defenseman and although he's 35 years old, he should still have some strong seasons ahead of him. However, he comes with a $7,142,875 annual cap hit through 2015-16 and that's likely to scare off teams that would otherwise be interested in the veteran puck-moving defenseman. The Panthers can make things easier by agreeing to retain part of his cap hit, but they might not be inclined to do so if they didn't want to move him in the first place.
Brian Campbell gets his 30th assist of 13-14 | 04/13/2014 10:40 AM
NewsBrian Campbell recorded his 30th assist of the season in a 3-2 loss on Saturday.
Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel
ImpactCampbell also had seven goals, giving him 37 points in 82 points in 2013-14. That's something of a disappointment by his standards, but it isn't surprising given how anemic the Panthers' offense was this season.
Brian Campbell scores lone goal in FLA loss | 03/04/2014 10:22 PM
NewsBrian Campbell scored the lone Panthers' goal in a 4-1 loss to Boston on Tuesday night.
ImpactCampbell notched his sixth marker of the year, bringing his tally up to 27 points through 62 games.
Brian Campbell's two assists help Panthers | 02/04/2014 10:36 PM
NewsBrian Campbell's two helpers pushed the Panthers by Toronto 4-1 on Tuesday night.
ImpactCampbell now has five goals and 25 points through 55 games this season. Certainly not his best effort from a fantasy perspective.
Brian Campbell edges towards 25-point mark | 02/02/2014 10:01 AM
NewsBrian Campbell had an assist in Florida's 4-1 defeat on Saturday.
ImpactCampbell has five goals and 23 points in 55 games this season. Barring an injury, he shouldn't have any trouble reaching the 25-point mark for the ninth straight campaign.
Brian Campbell no longer an offensive force | 01/24/2014 8:12 PM
NewsBrian Campbell has played more sound defensively this season, but its come at the expense of offensive production.
ImpactThe veteran blueliner had 27 points, six power play goals and a -22 rating through 47 games last year. This year, he's got 21 points, two power play goals and an even rating through 50 games. Two possible factors are that last season his shooting percentage was incredibly higher than his career average, and this year Tom Gilbert is stepping up into a complementary scoring role for the Panthers' defense.
Brian Campbell is logging a ton of minutes | 12/25/2013 9:35 AM
NewsBrian Campbell ranks third in the NHL with an average of 27:21 minutes per game.
ImpactEven for a workhorse like Campbell, that's a lot. In fact, at the age of 34 he's on course to set a new career-high for average minutes. "You do what you have to do, I think," said Campbell. "You don't control [the minutes] so you try to get a lot of rest, a lot of pills - the legal ones. I try to take care of myself and you learn over the years." He has four goals and 16 points in 38 matches this season.
Brian Campbell earns 2 PPP Tuesday night | 12/04/2013 7:25 AM
NewsBrian Campbell generated a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators.
Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel
ImpactBoth of his points came on Florida power plays and he concluded the match with a game-high 33:14 of ice time. Campbell has three points in his last two outings after going pointless in his previous five contests.
Cats' Brian Campbell seeks better PP results | 11/18/2013 10:08 AM
NewsBrian Campbell wants to get Florida's power play back on track.
Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel
Impact"We moved it around better [Saturday]," Campbell said after a 4-1 win over Colorado. "It's frustrating for me. I look at the power play. We've been in the Top 10 the last few years. Not a lot has changed, we still have the personnel here to get the job done so for me it's something I think about a lot and it upsets me. We got to start climbing in that category and be better." He scored with the man advantage against the Avalanche for the game's winning goal. The Panthers have the league's worst power play, with seven markers on 74 opportunities.
Campbell helps Panthers take down Avs | 11/16/2013 11:51 PM
NewsBrian Campbell's two points helped the Panthers beat the Avalanche on Saturday night 4-1.
ImpactThroughout the Panthers' early-season struggles, there has been one (good) constant and that is the play of their veteran blueliner. Campbell had a goal and an assist Saturday to give him 12 points this season. Among the regulars, Campbell is one of three with a plus rating, too. Jonathan Huberdeau, Tomas Kopecky and Brad Boyes picked up the other goals. Tom Gilbert assisted on three of the goals.
Two goals for Brian Campbell in Florida loss | 11/10/2013 10:30 PM
NewsVeteran defenseman Brian Campbell scored two goals in the Florida Panthers' 4-3 loss to the Rangers in New York Sunday night.
ImpactThey were his first two goals of the season. Aleksander Barkov (third) also scored for the Panthers, who have lost nine consecutive games.
Brian Campbell falls to plus-one this season | 11/01/2013 11:19 PM
NewsBrian Campbell was minus-three in Florida's 4-0 loss Friday night.
ImpactRemarkably, Campbell is actually plus-one this season and one of just two Panthers' players with a rating above neutral. Florida seems to be in line for a long season and that should make it particularly challenging for him to maintain a plus/minus in the positives.
B. Campbell picks up an assist in SO victory | 10/20/2013 10:22 AM
NewsBrian Campbell snapped a four-game pointless slump on Saturday.
ImpactCampbell registered an assist to give him five points in nine games this season. He's averaging 4:36 power-play minutes per game, which should help him best the 40-point milestone in 2013-14.
Brian Campbell gets off to strong start | 10/04/2013 10:40 AM
NewsBrian Campbell contributed two assists in Florida's 4-2 win against Dallas.
ImpactHe logged a game-high 28:21 of ice time in the contest, which included 5:11 of power play action. Campbell has established himself as a power-play specialist, but both of his helpers in Florida's regular-season opener came during even-strength situations. His fantasy value was hampered by a minus-22 rating last year, but he had a plus-2 rating Thursday night.
Brian Campbell records two points Saturday | 04/20/2013 3:46 PM
NewsBrian Campbell had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 defeat Saturday.
ImpactMarcel Goc scored his seventh goal in 38 games this season. Tomas Fleischmann, Mike Weaver, and Shawn Matthias each registered an assist in the losing effort.
Brian Campbell proud of 'playing every game' | 04/18/2013 10:17 AM
NewsBrian Campbell has played in all 42 games so far this season for the Florida Panthers and it's something that he takes pride in as a player.
Impact"You have to be accountable, and I want to be out there helping my team," he said. "That's all I can do every day." Campbell has registered seven goals (six of which have come on the power play) and 24 points this year, but his minus-20 rating is likely to scare away several fantasy suitors. Campbell played all 82 games with the Panthers last season, so he's in the midst of a solid iron man streak.
Brian Campbell gets a point Sunday | 04/08/2013 9:34 AM
NewsBrian Campbell registered an assist on Sunday.
ImpactCampbell has six goals and 23 points in 39 games this season. That's good enough to put him in a five-way tie for seventh place in the blueliners' scoring race. Campbell has been decently consistent this season in terms of points production and we don't see that changing in the final weeks of the season.
Brian Campbell scores in win over Rangers | 03/21/2013 10:15 PM
NewsBrian Campbell scored his seventh goal of the season in Florida's 3-1 win over the Rangers Tuesday.
ImpactThe power play specialist buried his sixth goal of the season with the man advantage in the rare victory for the struggling Panthers. Scottie Upshall and Tomas Kopecky also found the back of the net in the Florida victory.
Brian Campbell notches two points in loss | 03/01/2013 12:31 AM
NewsBrian Campbell scored a goal and added an assist for the Panthers in a 4-3 shootout loss to Buffalo Thursday.
ImpactCampbell is well on his way to posting another productive campaign, though his value is much higher in points-only leagues than formats where his deficiencies in penalty minutes and plus/minus are counted. Marcel Goc also picked up a goal and an assist in the loss while Drew Shore scored his second goal of the season in the loss.
Brian Campbell hopes to kick-start Florida PP | 02/20/2013 11:10 AM
NewsBrian Campbell is the only Florida Panther with more than one power-play goal this season, with four, but he hasn't scored since Feb. 3 at Buffalo.
Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel
ImpactThe Cats' toothless power play has gone 0-for-15 during their five-game losing streak. "Some good things happened early on in the season and now we've hit a dry spell, but it comes down to a few things that we need to fix," Campbell said. "Simplify and outwork the penalty killers, and we can be successful. We know we have the personnel to do it. We just have to work hard in the right way - not trying to do too much out there, not trying to make a play that you may have a 10 percent chance of making." Campbell has eight points and a minus-9 rating in 15 games this season.
Brian Campbell gets the game-winner Sunday | 02/04/2013 10:02 AM
NewsBrian Campbell netted the game-winning goal in Florida's 4-3 victory Sunday.
ImpactCampbell now has four goals and six points in eight games this season. Playing for Florida has been great for him and he should finish the season as one of the league's top blueliners in points.
B. Campbell gets a penalty, it becomes news | 01/23/2013 11:11 AM
NewsBrian Campbell received a two-minute penalty for holding in Tuesday's loss to Montreal.
Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel
ImpactThe penalty proved to be costly when Stephen Weiss put the Panthers down two men 20 seconds later when he closed his hand on the puck and Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov scored the first of his two goals on the night. Campbell's infraction is also worth noting because he earned just six minutes in the sin bin over 82 games last season en route to the Lady Byng Trophy. The Florida blueliner has recorded two power-play goals and one assist in three games this campaign.
Brian Campbell says even-keeled during talks | 01/04/2013 10:52 AM
NewsBrian Campbell is staying even-keeled as the NHL labor talks reach a critical point.
ImpactThe Panthers defensemen refuses to get too up or too down based on the day's negotiations. It's probably the smartest way to be considering the nature of these talks, with one day offering promise and the next quieting that optimism. "Yeah, I don't know. I don't want to get too far ahead," Campbell said. "I've gotten caught up in that, personally, thinking something's going to happen. It's just kind of wait-and-see."
